Giving Back to Our Community

At Larry’s Design Center, we believe that window treatments do more than elevate a room functionally and aesthetically—they enrich the lives of the people who live there.

Since 1981, our mission has been “To build meaningful partnerships that achieve inspired window treatment design.” These meaningful partnerships we build extend beyond the clients we serve but also to the communities where we raise our families: across New York and Long Island, and near our New Hyde Park and Plainview showroom locations.

In giving back, we put our craft and our people to work where they're needed—to support the people who have supported us.

A Home Transformed

Our team was proud to serve as the window treatment provider for a transformative home renovation on George to the Rescue, the NBC TV series in which host and contractor George Oliphant renovates homes for deserving families.

The project aired as the Season 16 finale on November 8, 2025, on NBC, Peacock, and YouTube. Watch the episode on NBC online or via YouTube through our Media page.

Larry's Design Center team on set with George to the Rescue

The Window Treatments We Selected

This special episode marked the first time George and his team revisited a deserving family, the Marquino family. Five years prior, the show originally renovated the Marquino home to accommodate their son, Danny. In late February 2025, Danny's father, Larry, was tragically paralyzed in a severe ski accident. We joined them as they returned to install critical home accessibility updates to help Larry Marquino navigate the house independently.

Renovations like this one come with real constraints—a fixed timeline and a family's specific needs. For this makeover, we chose treatments that deliver on style and on everyday accessibility: Automated roller shades and woven wood shades motorized with PowerView® Automation for convenient control by remote, app, or voice.

Walking for Sunrise Day Camp

In the summer of 2026, our team partnered with our friends at the Long Island Builders Institute Women’s Committee laced up for SunriseWALKS Long Island, the annual community walk benefiting Sunrise Day Camp–Long Island, a summer day camp for children with cancer and their siblings—offered entirely free of charge to every family. Since 2006, the Long Island camp has given kids a summertime of friendship and play alongside trained counselors. The walk is what makes that possible, and it draws thousands of families, survivors, and neighbors together each year.
It's a cause that resonates with our team, and we were glad to walk alongside our neighbors in support of it.

Larry’s Design Center at Babes Against Cancer Event

Supporting the Babes Against Cancer Event

Supporting the Babes Against Cancer event was an opportunity for our business to give back to a cause that impacts so many families. Events like these help raise essential funds for the American Cancer Society to increase awareness, and provide support, hope, and resources to individuals and families affected by cancer, like the Hope Lodge communities that provide a free place to stay during treatment so people with cancer can focus on getting better.

Rooted in the Neighborhoods We Serve

Larry's Design Center has been a neighborhood business since 1981, and many of the families we work with today have been coming to us for well over a decade. That kind of relationship is only possible when you're genuinely part of a place. We're always glad to hear from local organizations, schools, and nonprofits working toward meaningful goals in our area.

Together, We'll Create a Space That Inspires You

Whether you're making over a space for someone you love or refreshing a room for yourself, our team is here to help you find the finishing touch.
